Fukuoka airport serves the city of the same name in the island of Kyushu, and stands conveniently close to the centre –only three kilometers away- providing regular connections by subway, bus and taxi to the popular Hakata station. With just one runway, it handles the fourth highest air passenger traffic in the world, yet its exceptional proximity to the residential area of Fukuoka restricts its operations to the daily time frame between 7 am and 10 pm.
How to go from the domestic terminal in Fukuoka to the international one or take the reverse journey
To travel from one terminal to another in Fukuoka airport you must take a courtesy shuttle bus departing from well-signposted bus stops next to those of the city buses every 5-8 minutes. Going from the international terminal of Fukuoka airport to the domestic terminal is mandatory when you need to ride the subway towards Hakata station, and the journey takes no longer than 15 minutes, which you must add to the 5-minute subway ride in order to estimate the total travelling time after landing.

To get to the city centre from FUK after claiming your baggage, head to Bus Stop 2 outside the 1F area of the International terminal (catch the free shuttle from the domestic terminal if needed). Travelling from the airport to Fukuoka by bus takes 15 minutes; you may also use the expressway bus service, ask the airport personnel for further information.

Should you decide not to wait and travel comfortably with your bags in a taxi towards central Fukuoka, hop on an official taxi at one of the ranks outside either terminal building. This journey normally costs 1.400 yens (12 euros approximately).

While currency exchange offices are found in both terminals, the copy and fax machines are available at the 7-Eleven store of the domestic terminal and can be used at a charge. Baggage lockers are coin-operated and at the Internet Corner you can get WiFi, rent a mobile phone or a local SIM card.
